Shetland Marine Energy Development

To maximise opportunities of the emerging marine renewable energy sector for the Shetland community, we have a phased programme of work as follows:

• Phase 1 - background report on the wave and tidal resource (PDF 2.74Mb)
• Phase 2 - Shetland Islands wave and tidal resource (commissioned by Shetland Islands Council to Natural Power) (PDF 9.4Mb)
• Phase 3 - identify potential sites for the development of marine renewable projects around Shetland and integrate them into the Shetland Marine Spatial Plan (report expected April 2012)
