Planning Permission for Marine Aquaculture

Planning Permission for Marine Aquaculture

From 1 April 2007, permission for marine aquaculture developments is granted under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 rather than the ZCC Act as was previously the case.  This process mirrors the land planning system in all aspects and, once granted, planning permission is permanent.  Unlike the works licensing system, a fee is chargeable for all planning applications including variations to existing permissions.  Applications that attract objections are determined by the Council's Planning Board.
