The NAFC Marine Centre’s new Board of Trustees had their first meeting following the new Council elections on Thursday 9 August 2012 and re-elected Ertie Nicolson as Chair, with David Sandison being appointed to the position of Vice Chair.

Commenting on his appointment, Ertie Nicolson said: “I am very pleased to have been re-elected as Chair.  We have a very strong group in the new Board of Trustees and we are all looking forward to pursuing opportunities and meeting any challenges that come our way, head on and with great enthusiasm.”

Professor David Gray, director of the NAFC Marine Centre, added: “We are delighted to have such an enthusiastic and dedicated group of people forming our new Board of Trustees.

“The prime reason the NAFC Marine Centre exists is to support the future sustainability of our coastal communities.  The maritime industry is incredibly important, worth £300 million to the local economy, and the Centre protects and manages the seas around Shetland through projects that provide common good.”
