Local Authority Bursaries
Students between 16 and 60 who enrol on any NC or SVQ course should apply for a Local Authority Bursary. There are various criteria which must be met in order for the bursary to be approved. Career Development Loans
A Career Development Loan (CDL) is simply a deferred repayment bank loan to help you pay for vocational learning or education. You can borrow anything between £300 and £8,000 to help you fund up to two years of leaning (or up to three years if the course includes one year of relevent practical work experience). Theodore Salvessen Trust
A grant giving charity registered in Scotland, whose main objective is "The promotion of the welfare, dignity and efficiency of members and intending members of the British Merchant Navy."
