David Grant
I joined the Shetland School of Nautical Studies in 2005. Since then I've been involved in the delivery of many courses and subjects ranging from Maths and Dynamics to Ship Construction.
In 2002 I qualified from the University of Southampton with a Master of Engineering in Ship Science (with Yacht & Small Craft). I then worked as a research assistant at the University before moving back home to Shetland in 2005 to work here at the NAFC Marine Centre.
I grew up in Lerwick and studied at the Anderson High School before studying in Southampton where I was able to further my knowledge of Naval Architecture and sailing. Sailing is a passion of mine and I am involved in my local club at various levels, notably as a RYA qualified dinghy instructor.
I enjoy the challenge of educating, whether it is first year cadets or more seasoned sailors studying to gain a Certificate of Competence.
